Prerunner Forum

DesertBoard.com, my prerunner forum project has been growing a lot lately. If you’re interested in prerunners, trophy trucks, or other off-road racing activities, or enthusiast sports, DesertBoard is the place to be!

So What is a Prerunner Truck? Otherwise known as a Prerunner?

A prerunner is a truck that can be taken off road (comfortably, or not) and is street legal. A prerunner truck can range from stock, to mild, to wild. A prerunner does not have to be a $150,000 custom-built “prerunner” car built by a big name shop. A decent off-road capable vehicle with a few nice aftermarket upgrades is sufficient for prerunner duties.

A Prerunner is generally used for exactly what the name describes it as, to “pre-run” the course before the race starts. Generally a prerunner truck is the truck (or buggy) the racer, or navigator, will take to check out tough sections of the race where he’ll be coming through later WOT (wide open throttle) in the race vehicle.

A little more History..

Here’s a short history of “Desert Racing” from WikiPedia:

Deserranger-signaturet racing is the act of racing through the desert in a 2 or 4 wheeled off-road vehicle. Races, which are generally comprised of two or more loops around a course covering up to 40 miles, can take the form of Hare and Hound or Hare scramble style events, and are often laid out over a long and harsh track through relatively barren terrain.

Point to point style races, including the famous Baja 1000, attract nationally-ranked and celebrity drivers. This type of racing tests the endurance and capabilities of racer and machine, and while organized clubs or teams sometimes field multiple sponsored riders for particular events, desert racing in its purest form is largely an individual endeavor. Winning racers accrue points to advance their rank and placement in future contests.

Desert racing vehicles, which include rugged enduro style motorcycles, four wheeled “quads”, heavily-modified pickup trucks, and dune buggies, have specialized suspensions with increased wheel travel. [1] The now-defunct Barstow to Vegas, which ran from 1964-1989, was a well known example of desert racing in North America. Desert racing, in its most organized form, began in Southern California in the 1920s

CarFiles.net | Car Files and Online Media Storage for the Automotive Enthusiast

A new project of mine is CarFiles.net, which is an online media storage website where visitors can register for a free account and upload their favorite automotive related media files. They can create albums, and upload videos, images, and audio files to related categories. Once uploaded to the site they are provided with a “file link” (the url to the file) and an “embed code” to simply paste it into their favorite social networking site, or their own personal website.

The best part of this service is it’s free, not over-cluttered with ads, and has a quickly growing collection of automotive media already that you can share with your friends!

I hope you will check it out and upload some of your favorite car images, videos, or audio!

Cars Forums and Automotive Discussion

I’ve been a car guy for a long time. I grew up under a car with my dad wrenching. As soon as I was old enough to hold a wrench I was helping him hold stuff and handing him tools. Naturally, as I got older, I took an interest in cars and being a guy, into automotive performance. I love the sound of a high compression v8 or a low compression twin turbo v6 or inline 4 (like my Honda or 300ZX)! I just love the sound of that raw power!

About two years ago I started the website Car-Boards.com with about 10 related domains linked to it with make and model specific forums. Some of the forums took off and are still growing today. However, I was a little disappointed with the name Car-Boards.com.. CarBoards, or CarForums would’ve been nice.. but I don’t dig the hyphenated name. So, as a result, and because I own another domain which would fit better in my opinion, I’ve decided to officially change the name of Car-Boards.com and the Car-Boards.com network to The Automotive Discussion Network, or simply, AutoDiscussion.net.

Remote Control Cars

I’ve never been a huge RC follower or hobbyist but I’ve always loved playing with them. With the big new yard, me and several of my friends setup an RC track in one corner. We pulled a bunch of trees out that were dying slow deaths and made a few berms, a woop section, couple jumps, and started pounding the dirt!

With so many of my friends being into the RC scene and seeing how big the hobby actually is nowadays (there are legitimate RC events and races now, with large purses, paid professionals, etc.). I’ve decided to add another website to my growing network of enthusiasts websites.

The new website will be called, simply.. RadioCont.ro/l I decided to throw traditional domain name sense to the wind and go for something unique and hopefully catchy. That’s right.. no DOT COM, or DOT NET. Crazy!

RadioCont.ro/l/forums is the url for the Forums section of the site.

The site will feature product and car reviews, upcoming events, and other content related to the RC scene.
